Below are images of work from my foundation degree at Newcastle College including images from my final show which featured the 'Banyan' Series. The 'Banyan' series consist of patterned porcelain bowls, tea bowls and tea lights inspired by the roots of the Banyan tree and strangler figs. The pattern is water etched onto slip cast pieces before being bisqued and sanded. The bowls and tea bowls feature 4 pastel shades of an oatmeal glaze so are as functional as they are decorative. As much as I like this series, I doubt i will be returning to this work as the repetitiveness became menial task rather than a source of creativity.

The 'Tropical Shells' were my first pieces of work which incorporated the use of light which is something which really captivates me and will return to over and over. The patterns on these shell shaped tea lights are inspired by the patterns and colours of tropical fish and are painted on using underglaze. I will continue to make these in the future, not necessarily with the colours shown or that exact pattern but will be creating designs and posting in the near future.
